AABID SURTI (83 yo) is an artist, a cartoonist, an award winning author and a screenwriter, living in Mumbai (India).

In 2007, Aabid launched DROP DEAD FOUNDATION - a “one man NGO”, as he likes to say - after a leaking faucet at a friend’s house bothered him so much it caused an epiphany.
Since then, every sunday, Aabid’s team - consisting of a plumber, a volunteer, and Aabid himself - makes the rounds in Mira Road fixing plumbing leaks for free.

His activity relies only on donations from supporters all over India.
“If one drop of water is wasted every second, 1,000 liters go down the drain every month”.

Aabid says, his efforts have helped save 10 million litres of water, up to date.
His motto is “If I can, you can”.

In 1976 Aabid created Bahadur (The Brave One), the first Indian comic book Super Hero. Now he has become a LOCAL HERO himself.
